Press Release — Paris, Munich, March 16, 2026.
Ventech is pleased to announce the appointment of Nicolas Barthalon as Partner. This promotion further consolidates Ventech’s pan-European strategy, with a specific focus on the DACH, France and Nordic markets.
An organization built for pan-European ambition
With Nicolas Barthalon’s promotion, Ventech’s European investment leadership now includes three Partners in Germany, three in France, and one in the Nordics, complemented by a Sweden-based Principal strengthening the team.
Early-stage Seed and Series A investment thesis at its heart since 1998, Ventech has been operating for 13 years in Germany (Munich and Berlin) - and for 10 years in the Nordics - with a team of 4 investors including 3 partners, Ventech leverages these historical roots to identify the continent’s future technology leaders. Nicolas’s profile as a bicultural Franco-German expert perfectly embodies this ability to navigate Europe’s most dynamic tech ecosystems.
Internal promotion: A pillar of Ventech’s DNA
This appointment illustrates Ventech's T.A.C.T (Team first, Ambition, Creativity, Trust) value, which prioritizes the development of internal talent. Following in the footsteps of Audrey Soussan and Stephan Wirries, Nicolas Barthalon also joined Ventech at a junior level before rising through the ranks all the way to Partner. This approach ensures managerial stability and long-term continuity of Ventech’s vision and fund execution - qualities highly valued by both entrepreneurs and LPs.
Stephan Wirries, General Partner at Ventech: “We are incredibly proud to welcome Nicolas to the partnership. His journey at Ventech embodies our commitment to growing talent from within. Nicolas has become a central force in our German strategy, and his expertise and wide network will play a decisive role in deploying our new fund and backing ambitious entrepreneurs across the region.”
A strong commitment to early-stage tech investment
Based in Munich, Nicolas Barthalon plays a key role in leveraging capital within the DACH ecosystem. He has led or supported several landmark investments, including: Prewave (supply Chain risk intelligence & resilience), 7Learnings (retail optimization), Amber (SMB software with AI) Okapi Orbits (space traffic management and orbital sustainability) and Custom Surgical (digital ophthalmology)
He will continue to execute the deployment of Ventech Capital VI, which targets early-stage technological breakthroughs (Seed and Series A) across four strategic pillars: Vertical AI Applications, Industrial Software, Digital Health, and Cybersecurity/Tech Sovereignty.
Nicolas Barthalon, Partner at Ventech: "I am thrilled to reach this new milestone at Ventech. Our strength lies in this unique balance between France, Germany, and the Nordics, allowing us to act as a local partner in each market. We provide entrepreneurs with a solid pan-European platform to become international leaders, backed by renewed resources from our latest fund."
In parallel, Ventech continues to reinforce its German platform with the promotion of Ben Bieler from Analyst to Investment Associate in its Munich office. Together with the partnership promotion of Nicolas Barthalon, this step underscores Ventech’s ambition to deepen local roots while scaling its investment firepower across the DACH region.
This appointment comes during a period of strong momentum for Ventech. After finalizing the closing of its €175 million fund in the course of 2025, the team has already completed 19 investments, including Vertesia, Inven, CeLLife, Starhive, amberSearch, Custom Surgical, Omaha Insights, DiappyMed and many more.
